Entangled Capital sells Turatti to Grote Company
Entangled Capital SGR (“Entangled Capital”), a private equity firm focused on investments in Italian SMEs, announces that today, through its EC I Fund, it has completed the sale of its stake in Turatti S.r.l. to Grote Company, a US group headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, specialising in food processing equipment. The transaction covered the entire share capital of Turatti.
Turatti is one of the world’s leading designers and manufacturers of machinery and lines for processing fresh fruit and vegetables, serving the main fresh-cut and ready-to-eat players worldwide. Its proprietary technology delivers higher quality and longer shelf-life for fresh produce while significantly reducing the use of water and sanitising agents in the industrial process.
The EC I Fund invested in Turatti in February 2022, supporting the exit of the founding family from a business established more than 150 years ago. A few months later, in April 2022, Turatti acquired Tecnoceam, its main Italian competitor in fresh fruit and vegetable processing lines, creating a global leader in fresh-cut processing technology with customers across Europe, North America, Japan and
Australia. In the same period, the company started building a new plant in Cavarzere (Venice), designed to high standards of efficiency and environmental sustainability, which together with Tecnoceam’s site in Collecchio (Parma) has strengthened the group’s production capacity.
During the holding period, Turatti completed two add-ons, Tecnoceam and RS Technology, as well as numerous partnerships that broadened the range of solutions offered to its customers, establishing the company as a reference point in the market for raw fruit and vegetable processing lines.
“With Turatti we supported an Italian company with more than a century and a half of history through a phase of growth and consolidation, including the integration of Tecnoceam,” said Roberto Giudici, CEO of Entangled Capital. “Joining an international group such as Grote is the natural next step in this journey and will allow Turatti to further leverage its technology in global markets. We thank Turatti’s management and all its people for their work over these years.”
For Entangled Capital, the transaction marks the second exit of the EC I Fund and confirms its strategy of investing in Italian industrial SMEs with a strong international footprint and a focus on sustainability.
The EC I Fund was advised by Scouting Capital Advisors as sell-side financial advisor and by PedersoliGattai on legal matters.
